We love this area that much we bought this property in 2012, we have had a Finca in the village of La Murada since 2009, the spanish locals make you feel very welcome and the area is really safe.
There is banks, bars, restaurants, very good Indian restaurant, loads of tapas bars, you can get menu del dia between 8-15 euros, 5 courses of food including a drink, a kebab shop, petrol station, tobacco shop, 4 supermarkets
If your expecting Benidorm please don't book, this is a lovely spanish area, close Enough to travel to the touristy areas, but then you get your very own Finca surrounded by orange trees, a lovely relaxing private pool area, not overlooked, it's situated just off the main road with street lighting and it's a 10 minute easy walk into the middle of the village
