Positive: Our first floor room had additional facilities (balcony, fridge) and was large and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and there was a wide range of interesting buffet items, individually portioned in reusable glass containers in a refrigerated display. A model of sustainability. All the staff were very helpful. Free guest parking outside the hotel. The hotel garden was pretty. The railway station was very close and we had an included Echt Bodensee card which gave us free rail travel in the area.

Negative: The hotel layout is unusual in that the reception area does not communicate directly with the bedrooms on either the first or second floor. There is a separate guest entrance for both and the main access to our room on the first floor was via an outdoor staircase; fortunately it didn't rain while we were there. There was an alternative entrance at the other end of the building which took you up an inside staircase to the second floor and then back down to the first floor at the end of a corridor. There was no lift. Although we are now quite elderly, we coped with the stairs but would have liked to have been forewarned, perhaps in the website description.

Summary: A comfortable and relaxing break in one of the most delightful areas of Germany.
