Welcome to Mas Serena!, our home and refuge of inspiration.
When more than 15 years ago my wife and I were looking for a quiet place, fleeing the stress of the city, we never thought we would find it just over an hour and a half from Barcelona in a 16th century farmhouse in the medieval town of Llofriu.
As a writer, I discovered in this house and its surroundings a perfect space of calm where I could be inspired and capture my thoughts. The fresh mountain air, the peace of each place, the starry skies, the singing of the birds... will be your companions throughout your stay.
Mas Serena is more than a house. It is a home where you can enjoy the green of the fields and the mountains, it is sitting on one of its terraces and doing nothing, or reading a good book, or falling asleep without looking for it in one of its armchairs... each corner has its own story.
Furthermore, at Mas Serena the tranquility that it exudes is not at odds with comfort. The farmhouse, recently renovated, has more than 350 meters. Three double rooms, all of them with a totally different character. The main one with about 40 meters, spacious, bright, full of peace. The second room is contemplative, perfect for absorbing yourself from the private terrace, looking at the fields. And the third, perhaps the most special, built with a Catalan vault and where the house's library is located, is more than a refuge. The kitchen, made of natural wood, new and fully equipped, has large windows and exceptional light. Just like the main living room, a place to relax watching the best movies or the crackling of the fireplace, depending on the time of year you visit the house. The secondary living room, equipped with a grand piano, is dedicated to the pleasure of music.
And don't worry about the temperature. All rooms have air conditioning and central heating. Furthermore, in summer you can enjoy a swim in the private oxygen pool, eating in the 3 outdoor dining rooms or simply sitting in the fresh air on one of the terraces. And for winter you can enjoy the terraces, dining rooms and garden with the outdoor heaters.
And what can we tell you about the environment? Mas Serena is at the foot of the Les Gavarres Natural Reserve, with countless paths for walking, cycling or running. And you can do it as soon as you leave home. In Les Gavarres there are trails for all tastes. One day you can visit the Fitor hermitage, another the megalithic legacy, or if you prefer just to walk through its holm oak forest... For lovers of the sea, the beach or water sports, Llofriu is a perfect place, just 10 minutes from the main beaches and coves of the Costa Brava.
Llofriu is in the center of the Costa Brava. It keeps the intact charm of a town that is the birthplace of the writer Josep Pla. Where all the services you may need are less than 10 minutes away: restaurants, water parks, shopping... and all in an environment without any type of crowding.
