Positive: Las Estrellas de Laguarta is a nice house run by nice people in the small mountain village of Laguarta, located about 40 minutes’ drive from Boltaña (Aínsa) on a narrow winding mountain road. The house is (we understand) an old barn well updated to be a two bedroom modern apartment on two floors and has fly screens in some windows to allow opening the windows at night for ventilation. (The owners were very clear that opening the other windows would invite in a horde of insects, so we kept all the other windows closed). The kitchen has the basics for cooking. You have to bring your own provisions (all food, drink, everything) as there is no store, and there is no restaurant within 30 minutes driving of Laguarta. The owners gifted us some local produce and eggs. Towels are available for an extra cost. It all works well. The owners (we met the parents; I think it is their son who usually communicates with people through their website or booking platforms) took us to a nice natural pool about 2km away when we asked about any swimming possibilities. They also gave useful advice about walking trails. Really nice people. Recommended, with a couple of minor cautions (see below), and proper planning. I think I would stay in this house again. Thank you for your warm hospitality!

Negative: Note that during the summer you really have to be out of the house before Noon, and you shouldn't plan to return to the house until it is time to start cooking a proper Spanish (9pm+) dinner, because the heat is really too much, and the house does not have air conditioning. It's a shame that the climate has begun this way, so that even a properly built house in the mountains like this may end up needing air conditioning for the summers :-( We unluckily were in Laugarta on the one night a year when the town parties - there was loud music until 3:30 am on Saturday night (to Sunday morning). We asked the host if they had known about this (they do not live in the town anymore, though they were from Laguarta) and they said they hadn't known. So that night we didn't get much sleep. The next night was the absolute tranquility of the mountains.

Summary: Mountain isolation run by very nice people, requires some planning. I would come again!
